On the 15th of May, representative of China Horse Industry Association (CHIA) came to Korea and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea Racing Authority (KRA), aiming at developing China-Korea's horse industry and enhance cooperation and communication of horse industry professionals.

Mr. YUE Gaofeng, Secretary General of CHIA, Mr. BAI Xu, Secretary General of China Racing Authority of CHIA, Ms. ZHANG Jinfeng, Office Director of China Racing Authority and other colleagues met Mr. PARK Tangtae, Executive Director of KRA.

Korea Racing Authority (KRA) is the sole racing authority in Korea by KRA Law, and is under the supervision of the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
KRA aims to contribute to the national finances through horse racing, and to promote support projects for fishing and agrarian villages as well as various social activities, with its earnings.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. YUE stated that China and Korea are very close whether in the perspective of distance or culture. “Though horseracing in China is still young and lacks experience, we have limited passion and courage. I hope we can strengthen our cooperation and Let's Run together!”

Mr. PARK said the MOU signed by KRA and CHIA was of great importance and he believed that the two countries will enter a new age in horse industry communication.

After the meeting, representatives went to Seoul Racecourse to enjoy races.
It is noteworthy to point out Race 8 is China Horse Industry Association Trophy, a Class 1 Handicap race (1200 metres) with a purse of 110 million South Korean won.

It was announced on the 7th of April that CHIA and KRA would hold races in each other's names this year. The “CHIA Trophy” was held on the Korean Derby Day.
CHIA will return the favour with the “KRA Cup” in China in July. CHIA plans to invite top jockeys to ride in the race.
